Presentation
The idea of Africa Review of Books has come to answer the need for creating a multidisciplinary forum that aims at fostering a critical debate on African books and debates on Africa. Its objective is to introduce the books published by young authors to a wide audience; as well academic reference books and renowned authors. This Review was created to enhance the voice of Africa; it distinguishes itself through debates on books about Africa. It also aims to drive out the Afro-pessimism wave that has begun to prevail in some Western circles.
The ARB main ambition is to present to a wide audience the books published in Africa which are not well disseminated. As a follow-up to the call for tenders launched by the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa CODESRIA, (Dakar, Senegal), the Centre of Scientific and Technical Research in Social and Cultural Anthropology CRASC (Oran, Algeria),which publishes a number of works (including Insaniyat), has welcomed the participation in this African collective work alongside the Forum for Social Studies “FSS” (Addis Ababa, Ethiopia). With the help of CODESRIA, the challenge has been raised and the risk has been taken; they have been correspondent to a shared ambition of which the CRASC is the founder. We will devote our best efforts to be worthy to the trust that has been placed in us and the responsibility that we have; counting, of course, on the collaboration of everyone. Your contributions are welcomed. They will make the Africa Review of Books.
